why so many comedies these days with bathroom humor?

What happened to movies that just made you laugh without getting disgusting ?

Laurel and Hardy , Abbott and Costello , The Marx Brothers , The Three Stooges, Harold Lloyd , Buster Keaton , Charlie Chaplin , Fatty Arbuckle didn’t need to use bathroom humor to be funny. They were just simply talented.

I remember Eddie Murphy admitting that his first stand-up routine as a teenager was about going to the bathroom because that was all he’d done. (In other words, all that he had done that was R-rated.) Maybe that’s why there’s so much bathroom humor in kids movies. It’s the only supposedly taboo subject with which they’re familiar.

Personally, a good bathroom joke can get me roaring, but it’s been a long time since that happened. I’d like to see Hollywood drop the subject for awhile.

But I know the Marx Brothers managed to sneak some in. When Groucho is locked in the bathroom in "Duck Soup" he shouts, "Let me out! Let me out or throw me a magazine!"

    LOL It’s called toilet humor.

I’ve seen a lot of movies these days with good humor. It’s just some movies are really sh*t, such as Scary Movie, Epic Movie (etc).

It’s just the way they are made – not very well. But hey, some people like it, some people don’t.
